Welcome to the registration page for Sunset Showdown II 2025 at Mesa Rim North City! Sunset Showdown is a community competition for climbers of all abilities, whether it's your first week on the wall or you casually crush V16s after work. Join us for some classic climbing competition fun.

Early Bird Registration

Register before March 22: Members $40 / Non-members $50 / Open category $65

Late Registration

March 22 - March 29: Members $45 / Non-members $55 / Open category $70

Community Format

Looking to still get that competitive fix? Sign up for one of the community categories! While community competitors won't be competing for our grand cash prize, the top 3 in every category will recieve prizes from our incredible sponsors such as Black Diamond and Prana!

This year, we will have 4 skill categories and each category will be further broken down into male, female, and non-binary/gender non-conforming for a total of 12 categories. Climbers only compete against other climbers within their category. Make sure to mark your category on your scorecard at the qualifiers.

Community Competitors

• Beginner: V0- V2
• Intermediate: V3 - V5
• Advanced: V6 - V8

• Community Competitors
  • The format is redpoint, meaning that competitors have unlimited attempts for each problem within the 2-hour session.
  • Community competitors can compete in either session.

Open Format

This year we have an exciting new category, open, for all those crushers looking to compete for the grand cash prize! Finals at the end of the day offers an thrilling clash of San Diego's best.

Open Competitors (V8+)

• The format is modified redpoint, meaning that competitors have limited attempts for each problem within the 2-hour session.
• Open Competitors must compete in Session 1, and those who advance will participate in the finals at 5:30 PM.
