Salt City Showdown

An ode to Syracuse’s history as the top salt producer in the country through the 1800s, the Salt City Showdown will consist of a Citizens and Open competition in the afternoon, followed by a finals event in the evening.

Competition Format & Scoring:

• Redpoint Format
  • 40+ Boulders will range from V0-V11. Your final score is the sum of your highest five boulder tops.
  • Each boulder will have a point value assigned to it based on the difficulty. To earn points on a climb, you must complete it from start to finish in one go.
  • This will be a peer judged competition, so you must have a witness sign off that you sent the climb. This could be anyone as long as they can visually confirm that you completed the boulder.
• Competitors in the Citizen Category will be placed into a category (Recreational, Intermediate, Advanced) based on their finished scorecard results.
• Competitors in the Open Category will be competing for a spot in the finals round taking place later that day.
• Finals round for Open Category will be an Onsight format, with four finals boulders for both male and female competitors.
  • The finals round is entertaining to watch! All participants, members, and spectators are welcome to come watch and lend encouragement to our finalists as they test themselves against some of the best and diverse boulders our route setting team has to offer! Finals will include free giveaways and more for spectators.
• Prizes for the Citizens will be awarded at the end of the Open Finals.
