Bloc Bender
BlocBender is our annual citizens bouldering competition with categories for all levels ranging from Recreational to Open.
The Open category will compete in a qualifying round and Onsight Spotlight Finals on Saturday night.
We will have prizes for the top three competitors in all categories, and the top three male & female Open competitors will receive a cash purse. You don’t want to miss it!
BlocBender ’24 will take place on October 25th & 26th.

2 Options!
1. BlocBender AM Session
Youth climbers that are NOT a part of USA Climbing can join under one of the categories below, but they MUST register for the AM Session on 10/26

2. USA Climbing Youth Local
USA Climbing Youth Competitors are encouraged to register for the official USAC Local on 10/27
- You CANNOT compete in this USAC Event if you choose to join the other BlocBender sessions on 10/25 or 10/26
- EX. If you want to compete in BlocBender’s Open category on 10/25-26, you CANNOT compete again on 10/27 in the USAC Competition

2 Sessions
We are splitting the day into two sessions to eliminate overcrowding.
AM SESSION: Climbing from 9:30AM – 12:30PM
PM SESSION: Climbing from 1:30PM – 4:30PM

Format
Modified Redpoint
This format allows for for a more structured, and less stressful user experience, by allotting specific climbs to each category. Whereas, with the standard Redpoint format things can end up being more of a free for all, and can be confusing/stressful for newer competitors.

*Masters & Para*
There will be specific climbs labelled on your scorecard and placards that indicate climbs that were set with you in mind. These climbs typically end a bit lower on the wall, and/or may have less dynamic movement. You are welcome to record any climbs though, these are are just suggested.

Qualifiers
This round is a Modified Redpoint round that is on Friday, 10/25. This will determine who is competing in Onsight Finals on Saturday 10/26.
The top 6 Men and Women will move onto Spotlight Finals and climb for the cash purse!
Spotlight Finals
This round is a Onsight format on Saturday, 10/26. This means Finals competitors will report to the gym early and be placed into Isolation with no view of their climbs.
3 Boulders: 4 mins on and 30 second transition.

Paraclimbing climbs will be boulders, without ropes. Some will end lower on the wall, there will be varying grades, but everyone is encouraged to try any paraclimbs they feel comfortable with.

- 6:30 – 9:30pm Citizens Competitor Packet Pick-up
- 6:30 pm – Open Category Qualifiers starts
- 9:30 pm – Open Category Qualifiers ends
We STRONGLY encourage any Saturday Competitors that are in town on Friday to come to the Packet Pick-up
This will greatly reduce your time spent in line on Saturday, AND you can hang out during the Open Qualifier Round!

- Awards for Youth Categories will be at 2pm (Tentatively)
Parents: If you’re competing and want to climb with your child please register for the AM Session.
You will still be scored in the usual categories: (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Para and Masters), you will just be able to climb with your child(ren).
